Aadhaar to be made mandatory for 10 schemes: Gehlot

Rajasthan government said in a phase wise manner it will make mandatory Aadhaar number for people applying for ten schemes.

Dudu (Jaipur): Rajasthan government on Saturday said that in a phase wise manner it will make mandatory Aadhaar number for people applying for ten important services or schemes in the state.
Aadhaar would be made compulsory for applying for pension schemes of old age, widow, differently-abled, MGNREGA job card, ration card, driving license, water and electricity connections, property registration, Indira Awas Yojna, scholarships in future, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said. "This will be done in a phased manner," Gehlot said on the occasion of launch of `Aadhaar-enabled service delivery system` here by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the presence of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Six lakh state employees will get salaries through Aadhaar registration from February next year, he said. Higher education scholarship scheme will also be made Aadhaar enabled. Besides, he said, Public Distribution System will be integrated with Aadhaar cards as pilot project in the state`s Dudu, Chomu and Shahpura Tehsils. PTI
