New Delhi: The post mortems conducted on liquor and real estate baron Ponty Chadha and his estranged brother Hardeep Singh Chadha Sunday revealed that the two had received 20 bullets among them, a police officer said.
"We are questioning 15 people who were present in the farmhouse during the gun battle. We are trying to piece together the sequence of events," the police officer said on the condition of anonymity.
Police are trying to find out why only the estranged brothers -- Gurpreet Singh Chadha alias Ponty Chadha and Hardeep Chadha -- were killed in the shootout that involved several bullets being fired and lasted nearly 30 minutes at a farmhouse in Chhattarpur Saturday.
The post mortems were conducted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Sunday.
The police officer, citing initial findings of the post mortems, said Ponty Chadha received 12 bullets while Hardeep was hit by eight bullets.
He said doctors were unable to extract seven bullets from Ponty Chadha`s body.
He added that a bullet was found in Hardeep`s body while the remaining bullets pierced through him.
He said the post mortems were videographed.
Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said Ponty Chadhda`s body was handed over to his relatives around 5 p.m. Sunday after the post mortem but was brought back to AIIMS. He said another post mortem would be conducted to take out the remaining bullets.
A Shiromani Akali Dal member, who is close to the Chadha family, said Hardeep`s body had also been brought back to AIIMS.
