Raipur: Hitting out at ruling BJP government over Kanker rape case involving minor tribal girls, Congress MP Renuka Chaudhary has said the state government is covering up major issues and functioning in an "illegal" way.
"Rape incidents with minors have come to light in Chhattisgarh. State government is functioning in an illegal way and covering up real issues. (Gairkanuni tarike se yaha sarkar chal rhi hai aur asli muddo ko chhipa deti hai)," Rajya Sabha MP Renuka Chaudhary told reporters.
"We will fight for justice till the end," she said.
Chaudhary was here to take part in a protest by Congress workers against the rape of minor inmates of a government-run residential school for tribal girls at Jhaliyamari village in Kanker district, reported on January 6.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of state for Urban Development Deepa Dasmunshi who had also arrived here with Choudhary, criticised Chief Minster Raman Singh for not visiting Kanker rape victims.
"CM has so far not visited Kanker rape victims saying that his visit has been prevented to conceal the identity of the minor victims but he should go there," she said.
"CM should at least visit the hostel where the incident had taken place while he should also visit other tribal residential schools to check the facilities being provided there," Dasmusnhi added.
Condemning the statement of Chaudhary, BJP has said it is an insult to democracy.
"Renuka Chaudhary`s statement that Chhattisgarh government is functioning in an illegal way, is an insult to the people of the state and democracy," BJP state chief Ramsewak Paikra said.
