Heat wave remains defiant in North India

New Delhi: Heat wave in North showed no signs of ebbing and large swathes of the region bore the brunt of hot spell with Eatwah in Uttar Pradesh recording a high of 46.7 degree Celsius.

The national capital remained in the grip of severe heat with the mercury remaining slightly below 44-degree mark. The maximum temperature was registered at 43.6 deg C, which was three degree above normal. While the minimum temperature stood at 29.3 deg C, which was two notches above normal. Humidity level hovered between 44 and 21 per cent. Most parts of Uttar Pradesh reeled under hot spell with Etawah in western part of the state recording the highest at 46.7 degree Celsius. Weather remained mainly dry in the state and temperature in Agra and Meerut divisions was appreciably above normal. In Moradabad and Jhansi division the temperature was above normal while it was below normal in Gorakhpur division, meteorological department said. According to the MET department, weather would be mainly dry over the state and dust storm would occur at one or two places over west UP. Rajasthan reeled under searing heat wave which affected normal life in most parts of the state and Sriganganagar continued to be the hottest place in the state with a maximum of 43.5 deg C. Jaipur registered a high of 41.2 degree Celsius, Kota 43.3 deg C, Churu 43 deg C, Jaisalmer 42.5 deg C and Bikaner 41.6 deg C. PTI
