Amit Shah plans big for Narendra Modi`s UP campaign launch

Keeping in mind the significance of Uttar Pradesh in Indian politics, the Bharatiya Janata Party`s newly anointed prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is going to start election campaign in Uttar Pradesh from October 2013.

Lucknow: Keeping in mind the significance of Uttar Pradesh in Indian politics, the Bharatiya Janata Party`s newly anointed prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is going to start election campaign here from October 2013. According to reports, the Gujarat chief minister`s controversial aide and BJP’s in-charge for UP Amit Shah has drawn up an ambitious plan for this state for the BJP`s 2014 general election campaign. Recently, with Narendra Modi becoming the BJP`s prime ministerial candidate, the stage is already being set for a virtual showdown between the Gujarat chief minister and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi. Keeping the poll strategy in mind, Modi may start hitting out at those states which are governed by the Congress party or its allies. With the maximum number of seats in Lok Sabha, Uttar Pradesh plays a very pivotal role in formation of the government at the Centre. In the 2009 General Elections, BJP faced defeat and its strength in Lok Sabha was reduced to 116 seats. The unexpected defeat of BJP is attributed to bad performance of the party in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and Andhra Pradesh. While looking at the above fact the senior leader of BJP, Narendra Modi might have thought to target first. Meanwhile, Modi has already addressed in states like Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. Reports are also confirming that the strategy includes dividing Uttar Pradesh into eight zones for the elections. Then each zone will be addressed by the 63-year-old Gujarat Chief Minister, starting next month. Modi is planning to start the election campaign here at the time when the UP government being held responsible for the Muzaffarnagar violence which claimed 47 lives.
