Priyanka Chopra mulling termination of contract with Nirav Modi, says her spokesperson
The actress has sought legal opinion to terminate her contract with the designer's company.
New Delhi: In the wake of a recent scam involving jewellery designer Nirav Modi, Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has sought legal opinion to terminate her contract with the designer's company.
Earlier, there were speculations that actress has reportedly sued the brand for non-payment of dues.
"There are speculative reports that Priyanka Chopra has sued Nirav Modi. This is not true. She is seeking the legal opinion with respect to terminating her contract with the brand in light of allegations of financial fraud against Nirav Modi," ANI quoted the actress's spokesperson as saying.
Priyanka was first associated with Nirav Modi in January 2017 and since her collaboration with the brand, the actress has shot several ad campaigns for it.
Previously, actress Lisa Haydon has been the face of the brand.
On the other hand, actor Sidharth Malhotra, who also featured in the same advertisement with Priyanka, told PTI that since his contract is already over with the brand he is not planning any legal action.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday seized diamonds, jewellery and gold worth Rs 5,100 crore during searched in Nirav Modi case, as per reports.
A day after a massive $1.77 billion (about Rs 11,400 crore) fraud was unearthed in a PNB branch in Mumbai, the ED launched a nationwide raid on the offices, showrooms and workshops of billionaire diamond trader Nirav Modi.
Modi (46), who had figured in the Forbes' list of richest Indians, was booked by the CBI for cheating after PNB sent a complaint to it alleging that the jewellery firm owner, his wife, his brother and business partner Mehul Choksi entered into a criminal conspiracy with the officials of the bank and cheated it, causing a "wrongful loss".
