German actress Suzanne Bernet to play Sonia Gandhi in Anupam Kher starrer 'Accidental Prime Minister'

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Thursday shared first look of Anupam Kher as Manmohan Singh on his official Twitter handle.

New Delhi: German-born actor Suzanne Bernert will essay the role of Sonia Gandhi in the most-awaited political drama 'The Accidental Prime Minister' starring Anupam Kher. The first look of the film was unveiled on Twitter on Thursday.

Based on Sanjay Maru's book by the same name, the film stars Anupam Kher as the former Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh. The author Sanjay Maru's character would be essayed by Akshay Khanna and Ahana Kumra of 'Lipstick Under My Burkha' fame will play the character of Priyanka Gandhi.

The latest addition to the cast is Suzanne Bernet as Sonia Gandhi. In the picture that has been shared Suzaane looks hauntingly similar to Sonia. She is seen with actress Navni Parihar who is dressed up as Indira Gandhi in the picture. For the uninitiated, Suzanne is a known face in the Indian television and film industry. She has starred in various Hindi films and TV soaps. Bernet became the first foreign actor to play antagonist on Indian television in the historical drama Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat. Before starring in the Accidental Prime Minister, Suzanne has played Sonia Gandhi in a TV series titled 'Pradhanmantri' which was hosted by actor-director Shekhar Kapur. Actress Navni Parihar has also essayed Indira Gandhi in the same show.

Not to mention, Anupam Kher looks identical to Manmohan Singh, leaving his fans confused. The shooting has commenced in London.
