London: Former football star David Beckham says he got a new perspective on life after spending time with underprivileged children.

He says he makes sure to go back home and make his children realise how lucky they are.

Beckham shared his tryst with fame in "David Beckham - For the Love of the Game", which will be aired on Sony BBC Earth on May 28. He shared how lucky he feels to have fresh drinking water, food on their table and a roof over their head, read a statement.

He said: "Spending time with underprivileged kids gave me a new perspective. I have seen so many children that are underprivileged or going through devastation in their lives but I feel trips like these make you realise how fortunate you are. It makes me go home and tell my children how lucky they are."

David got married to singer-turned-designer Victoria in 1999. They have four children - Brooklyn, 17, Romeo, 14, Cruz, eleven and five-year-old Harper.
