Rishi Kapoor slams Rahul Gandhi for remarks on ‘dynasty’ in India

Mumbai: Speaking at an international event at University of California, Berkeley, United States, Rahul Gandhi tried to deflect criticism on political dynasty. His remarks drew massive criticism from various quarters and the ruling party – BJP. And among his critics, Rishi Kapoor finds a mention.

Kapoor, who hails from Bollywood’s first family (with Prithiviraj Kapoor as the patriarch) isn’t impressed by Rahul’s remarks. In fact, he went on to slam Rahul for making statements that are misleading.

Known for making controversial remarks on Twitter himself, Rishi made his views on dynasty clear through tweets.

He tweeted: “Rahul Gandhi. In the 106 years of Indian cinema of India, Kapoor's contribution is 90 years. And each generation is chosen by public on merit. By God's grace we are in 4 generations.Prithviraj Kapoor.Raj Kapoor.Randhir Kapoor.Ranbir Kapoor-Males.Besides all others. You see otherwise. So don't bulls**t people on "Dynasty" You have to earn people's respect and love through hard work not zabardasti and gundagardi (sic).”

Here’s what Rahul said at the event: “Dynastic politics is a problem in all political parties. Most of the country runs like this. That’s how India works. Akhilesh (Yadav), (MK) Stalin and even (actor) Abhishek Bachchan are dynasts. Even (Prem Kumar) Dhumal’s son (Anurag Thakur) is a dynast, so don’t go just after me.”
