I am in love with my brother Arjun Rampal: Ranbir Kapoor

Mischievous, stylish and extremely good-looking, Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal share their lovely experiences with Swati Chaturvedi of Zeenews.com.

Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal are upbeat about their upcoming film ‘Raajneeti’, which also stars the adorable Katrina Kaif.
Mischievous, stylish and extremely good-looking, the hunks chat about their lovely experiences on the sets of Prakash Jha’s ‘Raajneeti’ with Spicezee.com’s Swati Chaturvedi on her talk show Kahiye Janab. The highly entertaining episode sees the naughty duo in a cheerful mood, talking about their film, love and more. Here are the excerpts: Swati: What was that mischievous ‘yellow sauce’ prank you pulled on Katrina Kaif and terrorised her? Ranbir: We didn’t terrorise Katrina; in fact, she terrorised us. We were in Bhopal, shooting for ‘Raajneeti’, when the incident occurred. There was a speciality in the menu, tadka dal, which we hadn’t ordered at the table. But when Katrina found that the dish was not there she asked – “Where is the yellow sauce?” All of us were taken aback, and began looking for ‘yellow sauce’, which we thought to be a new kind of sauce. But when troubled Katrina further explained that she was talking about “the yellow sauce, which is eaten with chapatti” then we understood and had a good laugh. Swati: Arjun, you said one rarely finds a good looking neta in politics but there are all good looking netas in the film? Who do you think is good-looking in the present-day politics? Arjun: Well, yes. Someone asked me about the USP of ‘Raajneeti’ and I said that it is the bunch of ‘good-looking netas in the film. In real life, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi look good and if Priyanka Gandhi would have joined politics, she would be in the list. Swati: Ranbir, you are the sexiest man in the world. How did you get drawn towards the de-glam role of an average politician? Ranbir: When you are offered a script, you go for it if only you like the concept and the character. You do not accept it just because the look is glamorous or not in the film. If you believe it’s an interesting, entertaining and engaging subject, you accept it. Swati: Please tell us about the film? Ranbir: The film is not only about politics. It is about a family and problems among the family-members. The film is Prakash Jha’s interpretation of ‘Mahabharat’. Arjun Rampal plays Bhim in the film, I play Arjun and Katrina is Draupadi. Sarah Thompson plays my girlfriend, who lives in the US. Swati: Talking about girlfriends, how much love have you spread? Whom are you seeing these days? Ranbir: Today, I am in love with my brother Arjun Rampal. He is a complete family man and the excellent bonding he shares with his wife and kids is commendable. At the end of the day, we all want to have a nice family life. My image of a casanova is media-created and that terrorises me. Arjun: We have a lot of brotherly love. I think seeing this, Ranbir’s girlfriends will eventually tie him Rakhi. Having said that I also want to say he is a bachelor and he should live his life freely. There should be no reason why he should withhold his love. Love is one emotion, which never makes you rich because it is never enough. Ranbir has enough love to give and receive and he is not broke yet. Swati: Arjun, you have got a national award. What’s your take on the myth that good-looking models can’t act? Arjun: Acting is a talent you are born with. Your background counts in a small way. Tomorrow, I may help my kids if they want to take up acting but at the end of the day it’s talent that matters. Ranbir has grown in that kind of environment but all these things are secondary. Moreover, looks have nothing to do with acting. In fact, my looks have come in the way of my growth. It’s been a drawback. People just don’t see other things apart from your looks.
Ranbir: That’s right, Hollywood actor Johnny Depp had once said, “My biggest drawback is that I am so good-looking and because I am so good-looking, people don’t look at my acting.” Arjun is the best looking man in the industry. But this industry is not looks-based. To become an actor, you need to have passion and love for acting. Swati: Ranbir, had you not been an actor what would you be? Ranbir: I couldn’t be anything else other than an actor or may be director. I mean I want to be related to films in some way or the other. I have grown up in that environment. People used to ask me, “Do you lead a normal life?” And for us, the costume trials, the film-related interactions were normal. I just want to be good at my job. Swati: Who is your favourite ‘Kapoor’? Ranbir: My father, Rishi Kapoor. He was an actor, producer and director at the age of 21. I come from an illustrious family but want to be known as Ranbir Kapoor and not as son or grandson of so and so… Arjun: The nicest thing about Ranbir is that he is hugely endearing in spite of coming from such a family. He is very clear-headed and focused for his age. Swati: You did ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani’ with Katrina and after that ‘Raajneeti’. There have been a lot of speculations… Ranbir: You watch the film and you will know about the film and beyond… As for the speculations about my love-life, I am single but not ready to mingle. Swati: In future, will you join politics? And do you think politics will change for better. Arjun: I wish that politics changes for better in future. I just hope for the best. But I also feel that individually we can make a difference. As for joining politics, it’s a tough job. I have seen Prakash Jha go through a lot during his stint with politics. I will do my bit for the country as an actor. Ranbir: I am an actor first and I want to make a difference through my films. I don’t think I am qualified to run the country. Adapted by: Shivangi Singh
