Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is celebrating a grand Diwali in Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram. The holy town has been decked up and among those attending the ‘Deepotsav 2018’ are Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and South Korea’s first lady Kim Jung-sook. The celebrations began on Tuesday with Shobha Yatra by devotees in the streets of Ayodhya.

The event also witnessed some important announcements. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Faizabad district will now be known as Ayodhya.

Apart from changing Faizabad district's name, Adityanath also announced that Ayodhya town will soon get an airport named after Lord Ram and that a medical college will be established which would be named after King Dasharatha - Lord Ram's father.

Ayodhya Deepostav 2018 has entered Guinness Book of World Records on Tuesday. The record is for lighting 3,01,152 earthen lamps on the bank of River Sarayu.
