Man who filed complaint against Buta's son in police custody

Mumbai: Police on Monday took into custody Ramrao Patil, on whose complaint Sarobjit Singh, son of former minister Buta Singh, was arrested by the CBI on bribery charges.

A team of the Nashik police was in Mumbai to take custody of Patil, who is facing a case under the SC/ST Act which was being probed by National Commission for Schedule Castes headed by Buta Singh.

"A team of four police officers have come here to take Patil's custody in connection with an atrocities case registered against him in Nashik," CBI joint director Rishiraj Singh said.

He said, "We are presently recording Patil's statement in the bribery case against Sarobjit after which the Nashik police can take Patil's custody."

It was not immediately known whether Patil had been placed under arrest or not. His mobile phone was also switched off.

Patil had allegedly taken a loan of around Rs 10 crore on behalf of over 100 people from the Dalit community and pocketed the money following which a case was registered against him.
