MP should shed its defensive approach to Centre: Scindia

Bhopal: Claiming that Madhya Pradesh has highest ratio of corruption as compared to other states of the country, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industries Jyotiraditya Scindia on Saturday urged state BJP government to shed its defensive approach towards Centre.

Addressing a 'Meet the Press' programme, the Minister said that BJP government was fond of accusing Centre of discriminating against it.

Scindia said that during the NDA rule, Madhya Pradesh used to get Rs 1500 crore annually from the Centre, but this amount has now risen to Rs 9000 crore.

Refuting the charge of state government that it did not get sufficient supply of coal from Centre for power generation, he said the coal supply to state has gone up by 20 per cent and the state has not paid Rs 400 crore as dues for coal.

The Minister gave an offer to the government to come, sit and discuss its plans for the all-round development of Madhya Pradesh.

Scindia said that for this to happen, the state government should have a blueprint of state's development.

Scindia keeps mum on Digvijay's article

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industries, Jyotiraditya Scindia today refused to comment on Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh's controversial article on Maoism and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.

"It is not necessary for me to comment on Singh's article," Scindia told reporters.

He said that Singh had expressed his views in a written article on which there is no need for him to say anything.

Scindia said that journalists were welcome to approach Singh and ask him why he had written that article.
