Man held for making hoax call about bomb in Shatabdi
New Delhi: A 29-year-old man was arrested for
allegedly making a hoax call that a bomb has been planted on a
Shatabdi train here which he wanted to catch but was late,
police said on Saturday.
Jagdeep, a resident of Tilak Nagar in west Delhi, was
apprehended yesterday for making the hoax call.
A senior police official said Jagdeep made the call that
a bomb has been planted on the Amritsar-bound Shatabdi Express
at around 7:35 am.
The train had already left the station but was stopped
in Narela where an extensive check was conducted.
"He wanted to catch the train and was late. So he made
a hoax call to delay the train," the official said adding they
traced his number and arrested him.
Panic-stricken passengers were deboarded at the
station and a thorough search was conducted jointly by Delhi
police and Government Railway Police personnel yesterday.
The train left at 10.42 am for its onward journey, three
hours after it was halted.
