CP Joshi hauls up NDA govt for under utilizing central funds

Patna: The NDA government in Bihar under utilized central funds for development of the state, Union Rural Development Minister CP Joshi alleged on Wednesday.

The implementation of schemes under the rural development ministry was not proper either in terms of quality or expenditure in the past five years, Joshi told a press conference here.

Pointing to his home state Rajasthan with a population less than than Bihar, he said it utilized Rs. 6000 crore in one year for implementation of the central schemes like MNREGA, IAS, NHRM compared to the poll-bound state.

Most central schemes were demand driven and a performing state government could have availed of additional funds for their implementation, but the Bihar government failed to fully utilize allocated funds and never placed demand for additional money, he said.

The migration of people from Bihar for a livelihood summed up the state government's failure to sincerely implement the central schemes for employment generation, health, education and welfare of minorities, the union minister said.

The Nitish Kumar government, he claimed, failed to cater to basic aspirations of the people despite claims and was also guilty of defeating the Centre's vision for development and prosperity in economically backward states like Bihar vis-a-vis the central flagship programmes, Joshi said.
