Thieves dig tunnel, strike at Delhi jewellery shop
New Delhi: Unidentified men stole ornaments
worth Rs 11 lakh from a south Delhi jewellery shop by entering
it through a tunnel they had dug, police said on Wednesday.
The incident came to light in Neb Sarai at around 8 am
when Rishi, son of the owner Suraj Prakash, opened their shop
"They saw a tunnel inside the store and the cash counter
was empty," a senior police official said.
The robbers entered the shop through a two-metre tunnel
they had dug from the manhole just outside the shop. They
entered into the manhole, which is 500 metres away from the
shop, the official said.
The father-son duo found mud inside their shop and the
cash counter was empty.
Police said the robbers have planned it meticulously.
"Today is Dhanteras and they knew that there will be more
stock of gold," the official said.
