Petition against Rahul for ‘hurting’ religious sentiments
Indore: A petition was on Monday filed in a local court here seeking to order registration of a case against Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi arguing that his remarks that Hindu extremist groups were a bigger threat than Lashkar-e-Taiba have hurt religious sentiments.
The petition filed in the court of First Class Judicial Magistrate (JMFC) D K Singh by one Laxmandas, functionary of a local ashram, is listed for hearing on January 7.
"My client Mahant Laxmandas, who is also Madhya Pradesh Math and Mandir Advisory Committee vice president, has filed the petition," advocate K K Kunhare told reporters.
He said that the petition has been filed on the basis of WikiLeaks expose which reported Rahul Gandhi telling the US Ambassador Timothy Roemer that Hindu extremist groups were a bigger threat than the LeT to India.
Kunhare said that his client, in his petition, has stated that Rahul's remark has hurt his religious feeling and it may lead to an enmity between two communities.
