Bengal Governor visits Netai village to assess the situation

Kolkata: West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan today visited Netai village near Lalgarh in West Midnapore district, where nine people were killed in firing from an alleged CPI-M armed camp on January seven, to assess the situation.

Narayanan went to the house from where shots were fired and talked to the relatives of some of those killed.

The Governor had summoned State Chief Secretary Samar Ghosh a few days back to discuss the law and order situation in the state post-Netai firing.

On the day of the firing, the Governor had asked the state government to do whatever was needed to stop the slide in the law and order situation before it reached a 'point of no return'.

Narayanan left for Lalgarh on way to Jhalda in adjoining Purulia district where seven Forward Bloc activists were gunned down in a Maoist attack on January 16.
