US hopes for productive Indo-Pak dialogue Washington: The US on Thursday said it hoped that resumed dialogue between India and Pakistan would be productive.

"I think that the idea of them sitting down and having peace talks is something that the President has encouraged and we hope will be productive in their outcome," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said.

India and Pakistan on Thursday announced commencement of comprehensive talks on all outstanding issues, including terrorism as also progress on 26/11 trial there and Jammu and Kashmir.

The talks were suspended more than two years ago in the wake of Mumbai terror attacks.
