Three remaining WWF volunteers released
Kokrajhar: The three remaining WWF
volunteers were released in a place along the Indo-Bhutan
border in Assam's Chirang district Thursday, 11 days after their
Official sources said Gautam Kishore Sarmah, Pranjal
Saikia and Syed Naushad Zaman were handed over to WWF-India
senior project manager J Bora near Deoshree, under Runikhata
The volunteers were examined and were reportedly
physically and mentally fit, the sources said, adding they
were being taken to the district headquarters.
A total six WWF volunteers, including three women, were
abducted from Manas National Park by a little known Bodo
organisation called 'Aronai' from Ultapani Reserve Forest on
February 6. The girls had been released on February 8.
NDFB (anti-talk faction), believed to have been behind
the act, have denied their involvement in a statement.
The volunteers were a part of a WWF-India team carrying
out a tiger census in Manas National Park.
