AP Council appeals for peaceful conduct of board exams

Hyderabad: Against the backdrop of the Telangana agitation, Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council on Friday appealed all parties and leaders to help in conducting board examinations of intermediate and 10th class in a peaceful atmosphere.

"The intermediate and 10th class exams are going to start from March 7. This House unanimously resolves that all parties and leaders help in conducting the exams as per schedule in view of the students future and the concern of the parents.

"The concerned officials and leaders of various parties should observe restraint and cooperate to conduct the examinations in a peaceful and uninterrupted manner. This is to ensure a golden future for the students. We appeal to the people of the state and especially the media to do their bit to conduct the exams," a resolution passed by the Council said.

The appeal by the Council came in the wake of Telangana groups organising agitations in support of the separate statehood demand.

The Telangana political Joint Action Committee (JAC) has called for 'million march to Hyderabad' on March 10 and there has been concern expressed by parents and teachers that the students would not be able to write their exams peacefully as a million people would reach the city on the day.
