Bomb threat turns out to be hoax in Dindigul

Dindigul: An anonymous letter sent on Wednesday stating that bombs had been planted at the DMK party office, a private school and the District Court here turned out to be a hoax, police said.

Though the 'from address' of the letter sent to the District and Sessions Judge Basheer Ahamed gave a Tiruchi address, it had been posted from Dindigul, police said.

The letter stated that the bombs were planted in protest against the effort of the ruling DMK to "strangulate democracy", police said.

The letter further claimed the bombs would be activated by remote control and "would blast any time" in the next three days, they said.

However a search of the three places named in the letter proved its claims to be a hoax, they said.
