Parents-teachers seek fee exemption for more school students
Mumbai: The Parent-Teachers Association
United Forum of Mumbai on Wednesday demanded that the state
government give fee exemption for more students from the
economically weaker section by increasing the limit on their
Over 250 teachers and parents protested at the Azad
Maidan in south Mumbai saying that the government should
facilitate admission of more children from the economically
weaker section by raising the annual salary limit of the
parent to Rs one lakh from the current Rs 15,000 per annum.
"Such an exemption is made available for higher
education, then why not for primary school students,"
Arundhati Chavan, the convenor of PTA United forum told PTI.
"How do you expect the Right To Education Act to be
implemented fully if the government does not facilitate?," she
