Thousands demonstrate in Morocco's largest city

Thousands demonstrate in Morocco`s largest city Casablanca: About 6,000 Moroccans marched through downtown Casablanca calling for greater democracy and an end to corruption.

Sunday's march by the February 20 movement was the largest in months and suggested the movement's message of reform still has resonance among Moroccans.

King Mohammed VI has started his own reform process, and last week a panel of experts presented him with a series of constitutional amendments they say would bring greater democracy.

The movement's weekly protests had been regularly attacked by police until a protester died allegedly from a police beating on June 02.

Unlike the popular uprisings sweeping other Arab countries, Morocco's activists are not calling for the King's ouster, just a limiting of his powers.
