Uttarakhand Governor meets Home Minister

New Delhi: Uttarakhand Governor Margaret Alva on Thursday met Home Minister P Chidambaram and is understood to have discussed developments related to yoga guru Ramdev's agitation and death of Swami Nigamanand after a four-month fast.

Alva is said to have briefed Chidambaram about the recent developments related to Ramdev's fast, including steps taken by the state government, sources said.

The death of Swami Nigamanand was also believed to have figured in the meeting between the Governor and the Home Minister.

The death of Nigamanand on June 13 has sparked intense criticism of the BJP government with opposition Congress demanding resignation of Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank alleging that the seer died due to negligence of the state government.
