High alert sounded in Punjab

Mohali: Tight security arrangements have been made in Punjab after a high alert was sounded in the state following the serial bomb blasts in Mumbai, a senior police officer said on Thursday.

Security had been stepped up in the state to prevent any eventuality, state police chief P S gill told reporters here.

All vulnerable points have been put on high alert in view of the blasts in Mumbai, he said.

The district chiefs have also been asked to maintain a strict vigil at crowded places, he said.

17 people were killed and 131 others injured in the Mumbai serial blasts yesterday.
