AMU postpones teacher recruitment process
Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University postponed recruitment of lecturers, scheduled for Thursday, in
the Faculty of Law in the wake of protest by the university teachers against AMU Vice Chancellor who heads the selection committee.
AMU Registrar V K Abdul Jaleel said the recruitment process has been postponed to uphold the "sanctity and transparency" of the selection process following objections pertaining to VC P K Abdul Azis, a release issued by the university said.
The next date will be announced later, the varsity officials said.
AMU Teachers' Association is opposing the recruitment process in view of the HRD Ministry's recommendation for CBI and CVC inquiries against Azis and some other senior varsity
Azis has been charged with financial irregularities, violation of rules on Executive Council meetings, graft, poor academic record and even plagiarism in his D.Sc thesis. The university was closed several times due to unrest and violence during his tenure.
