Maha govt sends report on Pune firing to Home Min

New Delhi: The Home Ministry has received a report from Maharashtra government explaining its position on the alleged firing on farmers near Pune which rocked both Parliament as well as the State Assembly.

In its report, the Maharashtra government explained the circumstances in which the police had to resort to firing, official sources said.

The state government also informed the Centre that a judicial probe has been ordered into the incident and said the guilty will be punished in accordance with the law.

The report has been sent after the Home Ministry asked the state government to intimate it with facts about the incident in Maval in which three persons were killed.

The incident has rocked both Parliament and the Maharashtra Assembly, where opposition described the state government as "murderer" by saying that the farmers were killed in a "cold-blooded encounter".
