Raj Lokayukta for action against 2 IAS officers
Jaipur: The Rajasthan Lokayukta has
recommended action against two IAS officers for alleged
irregularity and corruption charges.
In a report forwarded to Governor Shivraj Patil, the
Lokayukta has accused IAS officers P K Deb, Additional Chief
Secretary (Home) and Chief Vigilance Commissioner, and Samir
Singh Chandel, Commissioner-Department of Enquiries, of being
involved in financial irregularities.
In 2000, during his tenure as commissioner in commercial
tax department in Jaipur, Deb had misused his powers and
extended undue benefits to the owner of a cinema hall in
Ajmer, the Lokayukta said in its annual report which was made
The cinema hall was exempted from entertainment tax for
five years which caused loss to exchequer, it said.
Chandel is accused of taking a bribe of Rs one lakh each
from two persons -- Udai Singh and Hukumraj -- to recruit them
in gram panchayat during his tenure as Sawaimadhopur district
collector between 1997-99.
The Lokayukta had sent its report to the state government
in 2009, but no action was taken following which it was
forwarded to the Governor in February 2010.
