Official works in HP to be done in Hindi: CM

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh government would make serious efforts to ensure that all official works are done in Hindi to strengthen the national language, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Thursday said.

Speaking at the state level Hindi Day function here, he said the state government had issued directions to adopt Hindi language for official work in all the offices to facilitate the common man and efforts would be made to carry out all the official works in Hindi to strengthen the language, Hindu culture and to promote the spirit of nationalism.

Dhumal underlined the need for preservation of rich culture and traditions of the state and added that Hindi was the national language and everyone should be proud of it.

He said the government was implementing various schemes to promote Hindi and officers and employees were being honoured for their distinguished services in promoting the language.

He announced that honorarium of litterateurs and writers would be enhanced from Rs 250 to Rs 1,000 and directed the officers to ensure that sign boards under PMGSY are displayed in Hindi.
