DMK's plea to Railway Minister

Chennai: DMK on Saturday appealed to Railway
Minister Dinesh Trivedi to increase the number of suburban
services in Chennai-Beach-Tambaram and Chennai-Tiruvallur
Arokonam-Gummidipoondi sections as there was a sudden spurt in
the number of people using the trains.

DMK's chief whip in Parliament TKS Elgangovan, in a
letter to the minister, said Tamil Nadu government had almost
'doubled' the bus fares, making it cheaper to commute by
train.
It had resulted in a sudden spurt in the number of
commuters using suburban trains, he said.
The state government had announced a hike in bus
fares recently.
