'No disruption of public services due to strike'
New Delhi: Delhi government on Tuesday claimed
that no public services were disrupted during the day-long
general strike called by trade unions as it took pro-active
steps to ensure normalcy.
Chief Secretary PK Tripathi said precautionary steps
taken by the city government yielded positive results.
"As a result of the pro-active, prompt action and
sufficient deployment of staff by the government, its
autonomous bodies, Police, DDA, DTC, DJB, MCD and power
distribution companies, complete normalcy was maintained in
the city during the day in spite of the strike," he said.
There was no disruption in any service including
power/water/traffic and with the cooperation of the citizens
and all services functioned normally, he claimed.
The city government last night clamped ESMA on power
companies including generation and distribution companies
though there was no necessity to invoke it in real sense in
any part of the city, he said.
The government today kept a close eye on the City apart
from monitoring the inputs received at regular intervals
during the day, he said.
