Obama’s 'Sexy and I Know It' video goes viral
New York: A video which shows Barack Obama “singing” LMFAO’s popular hit track ‘Sexy and I Know It’ has gone viral on the Internet.
YouTube user baracksdubs, whose original name is Fadi Saleh, diced and spliced the US President’s words to create the mashup, which he said took about five days.
“A big portion of that time was spent finding words and phrases from the song in Obama’s speeches over the course of his presidency,” Saleh told the New York Daily News.
Saleh, a freshman at the University of Tennessee, explained how certain words were particularly difficult, such as “lafreak” and “wiggle”, for which he had to splice together two different words. Others were easier to find - sometimes surprisingly.
“Obama has said ‘sexy’ at least five times in his speeches,” Saleh said.
The official video on the baracksdubs YouTube channel has been viewed more than 3,200,000 times.
Saleh has two other videos of Obama “singing” - Lady Gaga’s ‘Born this Way’, and Rihanna’s ‘Drink to That’.
He says the response from the videos has been mostly encouraging.
“I’ve gotten the expected Obama love and Obama hate, political rants, and occasional ‘RON PAUL 2012’ comment.”
“But overall, an overwhelmingly positive response. People wonder how much time I spend on these videos, and I’ll just say that it’s less time than they think,” Saleh said.
He plans to make videos of other politicians in the future, and is taking requests.
“I’ve gotten a vast number of suggestions from viewers on what should come next.”
“I do plan to keep making Obama dub videos, but I may break off from this path occasionally to try different ideas.”
“Who knows? I just might dub Ron Paul,” he added.
