Maha to ensure that Marathi is taught in schools
Mumbai: The Maharashtra government would keep a watch on schools to ensure that Marathi language is taught compulsorily to students till Class VIII across the state.
"Whichever teaching medium or board be?whether it is CBSE or ICSE, Marathi should be taught compulsorily in them from Class I-VIII," State Education Minister Rajendra Darda said in the Legislative Council during a short-debate on Marathi language, raised by Kapil Patil.
Darda said in order to make the language easy and interesting to learn, he would take guidance of the legislators. Also, teams would be visiting schools to keep a check ensure implementation of Marathi teaching.
The minister in a reply to a question raised by Legislator Ramnath Mote, said valuation to convert non-aided schools into aided is underway.
The master plan of schools in rural area is also ready, he added.
