Militias attack villages in Ivory Coast: Group

Militias attack villages in Ivory Coast: Group Accra: An international human rights group says armed groups crossing over from Liberia have killed at least 40 people in neighbouring Ivory Coast since July.

Human Rights Watch also said in its report released today that the fighters are forcibly recruiting children as young as 14 into their ranks.

Most of the armed men fought for Ivory Coast's former president and flooded across the porous border to Liberia after his arrest.

Human Rights Watch says they've now carried out at least four attacks targeting people who support the current president.

The group says the Liberian government has failed to respond to the recruitment of child soldiers. A 17-year-old boy told the group he led a unit that included other children.
