Youths held for raping 2 minor girls in Nagpur



Nagpur: Five youngsters were arrested for allegedly raping two minor girls at Hudkeshwar area in the city, police said on Tuesday.

The alleged incident took place on July 1 night when the victims, aged 12 and 14, had gone to meet one Pankaj Budbawre (22), whom the police identified as "lover" of one of the girls, and is also an accused in the crime.

The girls, one of them a student of class V and another a school dropout, had gone to meet Pankaj on Sunday evening, who took them to the residence of one of his friends Chhagan Srivas (30) in Hudkeshwar area where they were sexually assaulted, police said.

The accused identified as Pankaj Budbawre (22), Prashant Jogdand (24), Chhagan Shirvas (30), Bhushan Jawre (21) and Sanjay Sontakke (23), who are known to each other, were arrested yesterday, police said.

The incident came to light last morning after the accused let the girls leave the place, who then confided in their parents who in turn lodged a complaint with the Hudkeshwar police.

According to police, the medical examination of the girls has confirmed the sexual assault.
