Burundi student attack: Sixth accused surrenders



Chandigarh: One more accused in the case of attack on Burundi student Yannick Nihangaza on day surrendered, taking the total number those behind bars in the case to six.

"Harsh Gosain, son of a businessman, surrendered today and was taken into custody," Jalandhar's Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sarvjeet Singh said.

Yesterday, police had arrested another accused Amarbir Bajwa and also issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against an accused, Jaskaran Singh alias Jassa, who flew to Australia on a student visa.

Another accused Romi Uppal, son of a SP rank officer, and Amandeep Singh, son of a bank officer allegedly involved in the attack are currently in police remand.

There were about 10 persons who attacked 23-year-old Nihangaza on April 21 and he continues to be in a state of coma for the last two months in a private hospital.
