South Korea: US soldier accused of smuggling drugs
Washington: South Korea is indicting a US Army private for his involvement in the biggest drug smuggling case in the country, CNN reported on Thursday.
The soldier, from the 2nd Infantry Division based in South Korea, smuggled in about 3,400 grams of synthetic marijuana - also known as spice - through international mail from Hungary and the US since last year, said an official from the Seoul Central Prosecutor's office.
The drugs were estimated to be valued around $90,000.
The private will be transferred to South Korean custody, the report said.
At least five more US citizens, including a former soldier, will be prosecuted in the case, and authorities said there may be more people involved in the drug ring.
