Landmine blast rocks Indo-Pak border village, no casualty
Amritsar: A powerful landmine went off in an agriculture field in the Indo-Pak border village Shoora but there was no casualty.
SSP Amritsar (Rural) Pritpal Singh Virk said there was a landmine blast due to immense heat but there was no casualty as nobody was present in the field at that time.
Shoora has a very small population. The Army cordoned off the affected area looking for possibly more mines.
The SSP said the landmine that exploded was one of those mines which had been planted in the agriculture field during the 2001 Operation Parakram, the defence build-up that had taken place immediately after the terror attack on Indian Parliament on December 13 that year.
