Andhra CM takes stock of preparations for biodiversity meet Hyderabad: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today took stock of preparations for the International Convention on Biodiversity and Conference of Parties (COP-II) to be held here from October 1.

The Andhra Pradesh government is spending Rs 450 crore on various works to deck up the Cyberabad area, where the conference will be held, as well as Hyderabad city, as about 9000 delegates from 193 countries are expected to attend the 18-day event. Several heads of state and heads of government, besides ministers from different countries are expected to attend.

The chief minister, who inspected the progress of works along with several ministers and top officials, directed chief secretary Minnie Mathew to complete all the works on a war-footing, in time for the major event being held for the first time in the country.

The chief minister visited State Art Gallery and inspected renovation works and later visited the Shilparamam and went round the sculpture park.

He visited the Rayadurg Junction and inspected the Biodiversity Pylon construction site. At the JNTU College of Fine Arts, he saw various sculptures being prepared using scrap.

He directed officials of various departments to speed up the works and make all arrangements well in advance.
