Gadkari clean, no confusion on stand: BJP
New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Balbir Punj on Wednesday came out in full defence of his party chief, saying there is absolutely no confusion either in S Gurumurthy's mind or in the mind of the party that Nitin Gadkari has done absolutely nothing wrong either morally or there was anything illegal in the Purti matter.
Punj, who was asked to comment on RSS ideologue S Gurumurthy's varying versions on giving a clean chit to Gadkari, said the latter had presented a report before the Core Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party wherein he had argued that Nitin Gadkari had done nothing morally or legally wrong in the Purti matter and all the facts in Purti matter has been twisted beyond recognition by the media.
"Gurumurthy has reiterated and conclusively proved the same thing in two articles in the new Indian Express. He has been reiterating the same thing and there is absolutely no confusion either in Gurumurthy's mind or in the mind of Bharatiya Janata Party that Nitin Gadkari has done absolutely nothing wrong either morally or legally in the Purti matter, and 'it has by and large been misrepresented by the media," he added.
To a poser on whether there was Modi's hand behind the conspiracy against Gadkari, Punj said: "The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh have officially cleared that all such doubts against Narendra Modi are worthless."
It may be recalled here that RSS leader MG Vaidya earlier on Sunday said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is designing the dissent within the BJP over whether Gadkari should continue in office.
Gurumurthy hinted yesterday that Gadkari should choose between his party post and his love for social enterprise.
"I feel no party president should be in business. Perception about Nitin Gadkari is a political problem. I handled only the facts," he said in twitter.
"I have clearly said that the media allegations on Gadkari is false (sic). If this is clean chit, I have given it," he added.
