Strike at Madhya Pradesh universities enters 5th day
Bhopal: The strike by non-teaching staff of universities in Madhya Pradesh entered its fifth day on Friday and efforts to end the stir have failed.
Talks between the Government and Madhya Pradesh University Level (non-teacher) Workers Federation, which is spearheading the strike, failed yesterday.
The university employees went on an indefinite strike on December 3 demanding implementation of their 12-point demands related to pension, promotion and regularisation.
Federation General Secretary Avinash Burbure, in a press release today, said they were called by Secretary (Higher Education) JN Kansotia and other officials at the secretariat last evening for a meeting.
They assured us to accept our just demands after talking to the Chief Minister, he said.
The officers of Higher Education Department, however, failed to give us a written assurance so the strike will continue till the demands were accepted, Burbure said.
Meanwhile, the officers of universities all over Madhya Pradesh have threatened to go on indefinite strike from December 11 in support of their demands.
