Colorado shooting victims’ families slam US theatre

London: A US movie hall where 12 people were gunned down by the ‘Batman obsessed’ killer, James Holmes, has been slammed after it invited relatives of victims to re-opening ceremony.

The furious families said they were invited to attend an ‘evening of remembrance’ followed by a movie at the theatre in Aurora, Colorado.

They criticised the cinema owner, Cinemark, for its ‘awful timing’ in sending out the invitations two days after Christmas, the Daily Mirror reports.

The relatives say they have rejected the invitation, calling it ‘disgusting’, and have written to Cinemark outlining their feelings.

Holmes, 25, is currently awaiting trial accused of murder after he allegedly opened fire at random during a midnight screening of the Batman film The Dark Knight Rises.

Twelve people were killed and 58 injured during the rampage.
