Rajasthan to set up fast-track courts for cases of women harassment
Jaipur: Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot has given his approval to set up fast track courts in five divisional headquarters for speedy hearing in cases of women harassment, a government spokesperson said on Friday.
Such fast track courts are already functional at division level in Jaipur and Kota and approval has now been given for setting up courts in Ajmer, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Udaipur, he said.
Meanwhile, the state is also set to enact a law to prevent atrocities on women.
The government would implement "Rajasthan Women (Prevention of Atrocities) Bill, 2012" as an Ordinance after approval of President.
The format of the bill has already been approved by the Cabinet last year and the government is now waiting for Centre’s approval to implement it, sources said.
During a programme here yesterday, the chief minister also said that once permitted, the Ordinance will be issued.
