Bribe case an 'aberration', will take action: Natarajan
New Delhi: Environment Minister Jayanthi Natarajan on Thursday said action would be taken against the Ministry official arrested by CBI for allegedly accepting bribe for arranging mining clearance for an Odisha-based company and termed it as an "aberration".
The Minister asserted that the clearances are given through a "transparent process" by an Expert Appraisal Committee consists of independent members.
"The clearances are given by an Expert Appraisal Committee consists of independent members. It is a transparent process. Now we have taken note of these aberrations. We will take action," she told PTI over phone from Chennai.
Deputy Director, Environment Ministry Neeraj Kumar was arrested yesterday on the charge of accepting a bribe of Rs seven lakh for clearance of several mining projects in Odisha.
Meanwhile, CBI has claimed to have recovered over Rs one crore from the residence of the senior official who was remanded today in CBI custody for four days by a Delhi court.
