‘Headmaster’ Sinha don’t dictate us on Modi: JD(U)
New Delhi: Upset over Yashwant Sinha bringing ‘Modi for PM’ debate back into the ring, the Janata Dal (United) hit back the senior BJP leader while asserting that the party’s opposition to Narendra Modi stays.
“Our opposition to Modi is a matter of principle. Is Yashwant Sinha a headmaster and we students that we will abide by what he says?” JD (U) leader Ali Anwar said.
“Sab apna khayali pulao bana rahe hain, NDA ki baithak hogi tab PM candidate decide hoga,” he added.
Yesterday, Sinha had said, “A debate has been taking place for many days now. When I travel, there is a strong demand from common people and workers that Narendra Modi should be declared as the PM candidate as this will benefit the party.”
“After careful thought, I have concluded that if BJP declares Modi as its PM candidate, then the BJP will benefit hugely in the elections. It will have a big impact on voters. I have no doubt on this,” he said.
Asked about the stated opposition to the idea from the Janata Dal (United) which heads a coalition with the BJP in Bihar, Sinha said that while he wanted alliances to hold, the BJP retained the right to decide its PM candidate. He added that if some allies left, others might join.
