Six persons held for abducting and beating up youth in TN

Namakkal: Six persons have been arrested on charges of kidnapping and beating up a 23-year-old youth for his love affair with a girl, police said on Sunday.

The arrested included the girl's brother.

Police said the youth, a final year engineering student, was in love with the girl, doing her third year engineering, for the last two years.

The girl's parents were reportedly against the love affair, police said, adding, the youth was abducted last evening in a jeep at Trichengode near here.

The six persons had beaten the youth and threatened him that he would be done away with, if he met or had any contact with the girl, sources added.

They were produced before the Trichengode Magistrate who remanded them in 15 days judicial custody.
