Woman Maoist surrenders in Odisha
Dhenkanal: A woman Maoist, allegedly involved in the killing of a forest department official, Tuesday surrendered before police in Odisha's Dhenkanal district.
The rebel, identified as Sambari Tiria (26), is the mother of a baby girl. She was allegedly involved in the Naxal attack on Kandar Forest Beat House on January 31, 2007 which claimed the life of a forest official.
"Accompanied by her husband and baby, Tiria surrendered before the police. Her case will be recommended for due compensation under the state government's Maoists' surrender policy," Dhenkanal SP Manoranjan Mohanty said.
Though Tiria confirmed the killing was a handiwork of Maoists, she denied her involvement in the incident, police said.
