Himachal reels under cold wave
Shimla: Cold wave conditions continued unabated in most parts of Himachal Pradesh as minimum temperatures in higher parts of the state stayed between minus 13 and minus 23 degree Celsius.
The maximum day temperature dropped to 22.6 degree Celsius at Una from 24.4 deg C yesterday while Shimla dropped to 11.9 deg C from 14 deg C in the last 24 hours.
Solan and Una recorded 18.5 deg C, Sundernagar 17.5 deg C, Dharamsala 15.6 deg C followed by Bhuntar 15.2 deg C and Kalpa minus 1 deg C Celsius, a drop of two deg C.
Keylong and Kalpa in tribal districts of Lahual and Spiti recorded minimum temperatures at minus 10.4 deg C while Kinnaur recorded minimum temperature of minus 5.4 deg C.
Key tourist place Manali shivered at freezing point.
Solan and Bhuntar recorded minimum temperatures at 4.2 deg C while Shimla recorded a low of 5.5 deg C, followed by Sundernagar at 6.1 deg C.
Una recorded 6.4 deg C, Dharamsala 7.6 deg C and Naha 8.5 deg C, three deg C below normal.
High velocity icy winds continued to lash higher hills and minimum temperatures stayed between minus 13 and minus 23 deg C in high altitude tribal areas.
The local MeT office has warned of heavy rains, thunder squall and hail at isolated places over low hills of the state on February 22 and 23.
