PM tells MPs their concerns about Rly Budget will be met
New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Friday assured MPs from Maharashtra that their grievance about the Rail Budget giving a 'raw deal' to the state would be looked into.
The Railway Ministry will be instructed to make efforts to address the issue, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar quoted Singh as having assured an all-party delegation of MPs led by him.
Pawar told reporters here that the Prime Minister gave the assurance after the delegation complained about "total neglect of problems faced by 80 lakh commuters in Mumbai".
The Prime Minister was also apprised about the "raw deal" given to the backward region of Marathwada and Khandesh in the Rail Budget, he said.
The delegation included Union Minister Tariq Anwar, Samir Bhujbal, Supriya Sule, Sanjiv Naik, Sanjay Dina Patil, (all NCP), Dilip Gandhi, (BJP), Subhash Wankhede, Bhawana Gawli, Ganesh Dudhgaonkar, Anand Paranjpe (all Shiv Sena).
